But sometimes we pour so much of ourselves into others, hoping that one day it will be poured back into us. And sometimes we don’t even give with the expectation of receiving anything in return. We give because that’s simply who we are. We love, we care, we show up. Give and give, while others take and take. But at some point, you have to replenish yourself too. Your humanity is just as important as everyone else’s. Your needs matter. You need love, care, kindness and gentleness too in order to thrive and grow. And the truth is, no matter how much you pour into someone, they may never pour into you in the same way. Maybe they can’t. Maybe they don’t know how. Maybe they simply don’t want to. But it isn’t your job to figure that out or make them change. The turning point comes when you choose you.
